I resumed in Ibadan Grammar School one early evening sometimes in September of 1973 . We were the first set of the September to June academic year. I got to Olubandan house and was allocated to Room 4 to start a journey that took just five academic sessions.
Ibadan Grammar School was a leveler of some sort .. the Rich, in fact super rich had children there, the public and civil servant and the not so rich. All under one banner. We relate without any inhibition or complex. For me till date lasting legacies and friendship were incubated in the School. The drive to succeed and be successful took root here.
Our Escapade and foray to Upper Canada; the two legged syndrome; the shansi; the lo lo; the sunday evening sing songs; the literary and debating programs of other schools; the lemons; the above are just watch makes our school especially the boarding house very unique.
Also been a mixed school, the boys and girls learnt to related without getting into trouble. We were groomed to respect one another.
My journey after IGS is a continuation of my IGS dream and am grateful to those I met in the course of secondary school journey..
