My experience as a student
I did not intend to attend Ibadan Grammar School. I lived in the school compound by virtue of my dad being the school principal. I lived all my life interacting with boarding house students. I dreamt to be one myself and I knew Ibadan Grammar School would not provide that opportunity. However, I found myself at Ibadan Grammar School as a student between January 1971 and June 1975. I would say I virtually forgot about the dream of boarding school my first day at IGS. It was a special experience, meeting new classmates from diverse backgrounds. Even more special was the way new students were seamlessly assimilated into the school culture. Ibadan Grammar school provided us with opportunities for self-expression at such an early age. Every talent had an avenue to develop through the various activities put in place by the school authorities. Although I was not in the boarding house, I participated in virtually every boarding activity except sleep in the dormitory. I can boldly say my time at Ibadan Grammar School braced me up for life after school. Not every student could fit into the dynamics of the school where as students we wanted to experience the fun of life, and also wanted to excel academically. I would forever be grateful for the opportunity to pass through Ibadan Grammar School and for allowing Ibadan Grammar School to pass through me.
